What Truly Madly Deeply Is About
Nina cannot climb out of her grief after her boyfriend Jamie dies, and then Jamie comes home. He comes back as a ghost, and for a while it is almost as good as it used to be. Then he starts fiddling with the heating because the dead are always cold, brings his ghost friends round to watch films, and generally stops being the flawless dead man her mourning had built. Anthony Minghella's first feature is one of the shrewdest films ever made about grief: to let someone go you first have to remember them as a real person. Rickman and Juliet Stevenson never drop it.
