Tumbbad

In a village where the rain never stops, a family keeps a secret across generations: gold hoarded in a mansion and a being that guards it. Taking the gold has a price, and it is the same every time. The film builds its horror on greed; the narrative follows three generations and shows the same mistake repeated. The design rests on constant rain and tones of brown and gold, and is its strongest feature. Rahi Anil Barve and Adesh Prasad directed. Sohum Shah stars and is among the producers. The production took years. A real warning: there is graphic violence, a child put in danger and disturbing images of a creature. The register is hopeless throughout.
