What Turtle: The Incredible Journey Is About
A sea turtle hatching on a beach in Florida sets out on the journey her ancestors made. Caught in the Gulf Stream she is carried north as far as Arctic waters, then travels the whole North Atlantic to the coasts of Africa, and years later returns to the beach where she was born. Her odds are very poor; only one turtle in ten thousand completes that journey. Nick Stringer’s documentary follows a single animal to show both the size of the ocean and the dangers she meets: nets, pollution, oil and predators. Miranda Richardson narrates. At eighty-one minutes it combines a nature documentary with a travel narrative and sits where you can watch it with children.
