What Two-Way Stretch Is About
Three convicts have a comfortable arrangement inside: the warders are soft and the cell is almost a home. The day before their release they plan to break out, pull off a large jewel robbery and then slip back into their cells as though nothing had happened. It is a perfect alibi, since everyone will know they were locked up at the time. Just then a strict new officer is posted to the prison. Robert Day's British comedy stars Peter Sellers. Lionel Jeffries plays the new officer and very nearly walks off with the film. Decades later it is still counted among the tidiest examples of the British prison comedy.
