What Une époque formidable Is About
Michel was a senior manager at a mattress factory and has been dismissed. Unable to tell his partner, he borrows to keep up the old standard of living and carries presents home. When the lie collapses he leaves the house. Having lost his money, his car and even his shoes, he meets three homeless people who wash in the toilets at the Gare de l'Est: Toubib, Mimosa and Crayon. They take him in. Gérard Jugnot wrote it, directed it and plays the lead. The title is sarcastic: a wonderful time. It tries to hold comedy and real destitution in one film, and the balance does not hold everywhere.
