Until Tomorrow

Fereshteh is a student in Tehran who works at a printing shop and has a two month old baby her family knows nothing about. When her parents announce they are coming to visit without warning, she has to find somewhere to hide the baby for one night. She goes out into the city with her friend Atefeh. Through the night the two of them have to weigh up, one by one, who they can trust. Ali Asgari's film, written with Alireza Khatami, is built as a journey across a single night and talks about what a child born outside marriage means for a woman in Iran. The telling declares nobody a villain; the ones who help and the ones who refuse are inside the same pressure. Sadaf Asgari plays Fereshteh. The film screened in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival in 2022, and it is a co-production between Iran, France and Qatar.
