Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive

The documentary follows the athlete Usain Bolt closely over the course of a year. The camera is with him in training, on the road and in the waiting before races. At the centre is the preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games. Interviews with Bolt, his family and his friends make up the body of the account. It does not simply list records; it also asks what being the best means in daily life. The expectation and the pressure that come with fame are the point the film keeps returning to. The account stands close to its subject and does not pretend otherwise. The sixty minutes are used to follow a single season. Gaël Lieblang’s American documentary was completed in 2012.
