What Vali Is About
Faruk Yazıcı, the governor of Denizli, and his childhood friend Ömer Uçar, an engineer with the state mining institute, learn that a rich uranium deposit has been found in the region. As word spreads, the people on the team start dying one by one in suspicious circumstances. The governor goes after it and finds himself facing a structure far larger than local interests. Çağatay Tosun's film was made as a continuation of Köprü, the series broadcast on Star TV. The telling is built on a conspiracy plot and is about a reckoning over the country's natural resources; the plot itself is a screenplay, not a documentary claim. Erdal Beşikçioğlu takes the lead. It was among the most watched Turkish films of 2009 and was shot in Istanbul, Ankara and Uşak.
