What Wandering Streams Is About

Émile is in his seventies, a retired horticulturalist. He once grew bonsai, for a simple reason: they do not take up much room. His life is the same, safe and without events. The one bit of colour in it is Edmond, the loud friend he goes fishing with, though the two of them only ever exchange pleasantries and never confidences. Émile's life starts to change with what he learns about Edmond and with the loss that follows. Pascal Rabaté adapted the film from his own comic of 2006. Daniel Prévost and Bulle Ogier play it. It neither pities old age nor makes it charming, and it leaves desire where it is.
