What Weighed But Found Wanting Is About
In a small Philippine town the son of a well off family cools towards everything around him as he sees its hypocrisy, and moves closer to the two people the town keeps out: a man held at a distance because of leprosy, and Kuala, a woman living on the street after a trauma she went through. The young man brings the two together and in a way makes himself a new family. The town takes pride in its piety, but where mercy ends and exclusion begins becomes visible in the story of these two people. Lino Brocka opens the account with a religious festival and closes it at Christmas. Christopher de Leon and Lolita Rodriguez appear in the hundred and twenty eight minute Philippine film, completed in 1974.
