What Welcome to 'All Saints Is About
A young orthopaedic trainee begins his working life at a fictional state hospital on the outskirts of Athens. Inside, doctors, administrators, nurses and patients are tangled together in an order where everyone has their own reckoning and their own alliance. Trying to hold a balance between the camps, the young man slowly leaves his inexperience behind. The film tells the blockage in public health not with anger but with comedy and from a distance close to the people in it. In the end he makes a considered choice and does not give up the work. The account hardly ever leaves the hospital. Argyris Xafis plays the lead in Sotiris Goritsas’s eighty nine minute Greek film, completed in 2011.
