What Welcome to Dongmakgol Is About
Korea, 1950. A handful of soldiers from the North and the South who survived a firefight end up by accident in Dongmakgol, a mountain village with no idea a war is happening. An American pilot, shot down on a reconnaissance flight, joins them. To avoid harming the villagers they put down their weapons and have to learn to live together for a while. Adapted from Jang Jin’s play, the film opens in a fable register and then reminds you that the war will reach this village too. Jung Jae-young and Shin Ha-kyun are in the cast.
