What is Love?

Fabien Gorgeart's 2026 French film uses the church's annulment process as a pretext. Marguerite has no objection to her marriage to Fred being annulled; she has a new partner and a child with him. But for the church to grant it, they must prove the marriage was void from the beginning, that no real bond was ever made. So Marguerite and Fred have to sit down and recount their shared past piece by piece. From this the film draws a question about how a relationship is narrated: the same events are remembered entirely differently by two people, and constructing the account the church requires means distorting the truth.
