In the South Korea of the seventies, in a small town among the mountains, nine year old Yeo-min is carrying more than his age should ask of him: protecting his friends from the local bully, sharing his lunch with Ki-jong, who lives alone with his sister, and selling ice cream after school to save up for a pair of sunglasses for his mother, who injured her eye at the factory. At the same time he is trying to work out his own feelings about a girl newly arrived in his class. The film gives childhood as neither a fairy tale nor a story of suffering; both sit inside the same day. Yoon In-ho’s hundred and five minute Korean film was completed in 2004.
