What The Devil's Game Is About
Min Hee-do is a broke street artist. Kang No-sik is old, extremely rich and terminally ill. Kang proposes a bet: they will dial a random number and guess whether the person who answers is a man or a woman. Kang puts up billions of won. The only thing Min has to put up is his own life. Yoon In-ho's 2008 Korean film builds the wager not as a gambling scene but as a relationship of power between two men: what money cannot buy, set against what a man with nothing is able to sell. Shin Ha-kyun and Byun Hee-bong face each other over it. The tension really starts once the bet has been settled.
