What When Pigs Have Wings Is About
Jafaar, a poor fisherman in Gaza, hauls in his net after a storm and finds a pig in it instead of fish. The pig is forbidden in both Islam and Judaism, and he wants rid of it fast. He tries first to sell it to a United Nations official, then goes to a Jewish settlement where pigs are kept. Moving around with a forbidden animal, among Palestinian neighbours, Israeli soldiers and religious pressure, is not easy. Sylvain Estibal directed. Black comedy and political satire that lets neither side off. Jafaar is played by the Israeli actor Sasson Gabai.
