What Where the Wind Comes From Is About
Amel Guellaty's 2025 Tunisian film follows Alyssa, nineteen, and her friend Mehdi. Both are stuck in a city that makes no room for them. A contest is announced in the south, and winning it could be a way out of the country. They set off; the film does not build the journey as a promise of deliverance and watches the two move between imagining and reality. The cast are young and unknown. Desert imagery takes wide space. The tone is light while the close is realistic. Who it's for: those who like North African cinema and road films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a definite escape; the film does not provide one.
