What White God Is About
When a regulation imposing a heavy tax on mixed-breed dogs leads her father to put the dog out on the street, a girl sets out to find him. The dog passes through pounds and fighting pits. In the second half the film hands the point of view entirely to the dog, and it becomes a mass uprising in the city. The crowd scenes were shot with real dogs, with no computer effects, and most of the animals came from shelters. Kornel Mundruczo directed. It won a prize in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. A real warning: there is violence against animals, dog fighting and pound scenes. Even though filming was supervised, it is hard to watch.
