White Lightnin'

The mountains of West Virginia. As a boy Jesco White went back and forth between reform school and the asylum; he was huffing solvent and nobody could hold him. His father, D. Ray White, was a well-known mountain dancer who taught his son the dance, and that was the only thing that held. Then his father was murdered. Jesco puts on his father's shoes and goes out to perform, trying at the same time to keep down what is inside him. He marries Cilla. The thought of revenge does not leave him. Dominic Murphy directs the British film; ninety-two minutes, with Edward Hogg as Jesco and Carrie Fisher as Cilla. Jesco White is a real person, known for the dancing. But the film is not his life story; it mixes real events with invention on purpose, and its second half is largely made up.
