Winter Journey

Erik is a young man training in opera. An important audition is ahead of him. His teacher suggests a calm preparation. Sleep, walks and listening to Schubert. Erik does only the last of these. He spends his nights drinking, in disordered company. He feels lost and angry. He has a boyfriend but his searching does not stop. Then he meets Lyokha in the street. The man lives close to crime. An unexpected bond forms between the two. That bond breaks up what order Erik had. How hard it is to be gay in Russia is felt throughout. The film tells it without decoration. Evgeniy Tkachuk and Aleksey Frandetti appear in the ninety minute film, a Russian production Lyubov Lvova and Sergey Taramaev finished in 2012.
