Yana's Friends

The film is set in Tel Aviv. The time is the years of the Gulf War. It tells three separate stories of immigrants living in the city. Those stories run parallel to one another. As the Scud missiles fall people shut themselves into sealed rooms. In those rooms they come closer to each other. That closeness, formed in the middle of a war, is the real subject. The account runs drama and comedy together. The question of migration and settling is inside it too. Evelyn Kaplun and Nir Levy take the leads, with Vladimir Friedman also in the cast, in Arik Kaplun’s Israeli film of 1999.
