What You Will Be My Son Is About
Paul de Marseul owns a well-regarded château and vineyard in Saint-Émilion and has a name in wine. What does not please him is the thought of his son Martin one day taking the place over: as he sees it the boy has neither the patience, nor the instinct, nor the passion the work demands, and he lets him feel it at every opportunity. Then Philippe, the son of his estate manager, turns up, and Paul finds in him the son he was looking for. His own son he counts for nothing. Gilles Legrand directs, with Niels Arestrup as Paul and Lorànt Deutsch as Martin. It takes place in the world of wine, but what it is about is not inheritance; it is a father choosing his son.
