Talia Shire

The AFI names Talia Shire in the credits of The Godfather Part II as Connie Corleone and as Coppola's sister; with Pacino, Duvall, Diane Keaton and John Cazale she was among those carrying a part over from the first film. That film took best picture and five further Oscars, and Shire was nominated for supporting actress. Two years later she was Adrian Pennino in John G. Avildsen's Rocky. By that page Stallone wrote the first rough draft of the screenplay in three and a half days and refused to sell it, although United Artists and other companies offered up to 275,000 dollars for the rights, unless he played the lead himself. Nobody expected Rocky to win any Oscar when it came out; it took directing, editing and best picture, and Shire was a nominee again, this time in a leading category.
