Virginie Ledoyen plays Richard's love interest in Danny Boyle's The Beach. Xan Brooks, in the archive, calls her a rising French actress but writes that in this film she makes do with a pallid support slot. Philip Kemp, in that archive, takes her Cécile in In All Innocence, from 1998, for pleasantly amoral, a seductive mixture of cynicism and innocence, and describes her standing in the lawyer's room both pleading and disdainful. Ginette Vincendeau, introducing 8 Women as a dream cast of dazzling French stars, counts her among them.
