What Bon Voyage Is About
June 1940. The Germans are entering Paris and everyone from the government to journalists, physicists and spies is pouring south to Bordeaux. In the city's grand hotel, ministers, film stars, men who have broken out of prison and agents share the same corridors. There is a murder, a scientific cargo that must not fall into German hands, and the question of who loves whom. Jean-Paul Rappeneau plays the darkest moment in the country's history at the speed of comedy. The cargo is based on a real event, the removal of heavy water from France in 1940.
