Aditya Chopra's first film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, was a love story set inside London's Indian community and it became a turning point for Indian cinema. Simran and Raj, played by Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, fall in love on a train holiday in Europe, and the film's most romantic moment is Simran inviting Raj to her arranged wedding once they are back in London, and Raj refusing. It describes a period in which the view of love and marriage was changing: for Simran's father, marriages are made by the elders and love comes afterwards. It consolidated the Yash Raj manner, and Yash Raj Films became the leading house of Indian cinema. Twenty years on the film was still drawing an audience at a Mumbai cinema. It won him three Filmfares in 1996, for directing, screenplay and dialogue; a fourth came in 1998 for the dialogue of Dil To Pagal Hai and a fifth in 2001 for a scene in Mohabbatein.
