Matteo Garrone

Matteo Garrone directed all eight films held under his name and acts in not one of them. The David di Donatello archive records ten wins for him, and they split into two classes: seven are directing and screenplay awards given to him directly, while three are best film awards that went to films he directed. In that category the institution gives the award to a film's director and producer. Gomorrah in 2009, Dogman in 2019 and Io Capitano in 2024 collected both at the same ceremony. Dogman of 2018 stands in front of his catalogue on votes; furthest back is Land in Between of 1996.
