10 Billion: What's On Your Plate

The documentary starts from a question. By 2050 the world population will be near ten billion. How are all of them to be fed. The resources are limited. Valentin Thurn travels the world looking into it. Two roads stand in front of him. One is industrial agriculture, which rests on mass production. The other is organic and traditional farming. It produces less but uses resources sparingly. The film shows both of them on the ground. It goes to a seed bank in India where old varieties that stand up to the climate are kept. There is an insect farm in Thailand, and artificial meat and city growing come into it too. Valentin Thurn made the hundred and seven minute documentary, a German production finished in 2015.
