20 Fingers

The subject of the film is relations between women and men. It is built out of seven parts. Each part is a separate scene. Mania Akbari and Bijan Daneshmand play an Iranian couple of the present day. The cast is made up of those two alone. They talk throughout the film. The talk turns into argument from time to time. Those arguments reflect the problems facing Iranian women and men. The tension between the modern and the traditional is inside them. So is the distance between liberal and conservative positions. The account never steps outside those seven scenes. The film builds a short and dense structure. Mania Akbari’s Iranian film of 2004 runs seventy four minutes.
