31 Minutes: One Hot Christmas

Chile's cult puppet series 31 Minutos returned in 2025 with a feature-length Christmas film. It is so hot in the puppets' town that Santa Claus cancels his visit. Bodoque the rabbit volunteers to rescue the presents from the North Pole, while the friends left behind try to improvise a Christmas broadcast, which goes wrong exactly as expected. Bodoque's journey, meanwhile, tests him against his well-known weaknesses. The series tone survives intact: humour that looks aimed at children while winking openly at the adults, constant songs, and mockery of television formats. Álvaro Díaz and Pedro Peirano directed. It went out on Prime Video, and its premiere was noted for setting a record for the most puppets on a red carpet. Who it's for: viewers of 31 Minutos and anyone who likes puppet animation. Who it's not for: newcomers expecting a conventional children's film; much of the humour depends on knowing the series.
