A middle-class Tamil family has been working toward the same goal for years: owning their own home. Rent, debt, a wedding, an illness; each time, the money that has accumulated goes somewhere else. The father waits for his pension, the son changes jobs, the daughter goes to university, and the goal keeps receding by another year. Sri Ganesh uses the Chennai housing market not as background but as a character. Prices, loan interest, agents' arithmetic and the documents the bank requires are inside the narrative. How a goal gets handed down through generations is the film's center. Siddharth plays the son, R. Sarathkumar the father and Devayani the mother. The telling runs chronologically across a long span, and the characters' ageing becomes the film's measure. Who it's for: Viewers who like family drama, economic realism, and multi-generational narrative. Who it's not for: The emotional beats are underlined and the ending plays openly for effect. Circling one goal can also make the plot feel repetitive.
