Kaluna is the youngest in her family and still lives at home. Her two married siblings, their spouses and children are there too; all of them under one roof. She works and most of her wage goes to the house; she does the shopping, pays the bills, and nobody discusses it. She wants a home of her own. She does the sums: deposit, loan, interest and monthly payment. The figures do not work. She starts looking anyway. Three friends help her. House hunting turns into a journey and the situation at home worsens at the same time. Sabrina Rochelle Kalangie directs; she wrote the screenplay with Widya Arifianti. Yunita Siregar, Derby Romero and Risty Tagor are in the cast. It is an Indonesian production. The source is Almira Bastari's novel. It opened on 26 September 2024 and sold more than a million and a half tickets, entering the most watched productions in Indonesia that year. Kalangie and Arifianti won best adapted screenplay at the Indonesian Film Festival. The matter it treats is house prices; the film takes it as a direct subject rather than a background. Unseen labour inside the family is its second axis and nobody sees what Kaluna does. The narrative offers no easy resolution and the ending does not land where expected. Its limit is structure; the supporting characters are functional and some sections repeat. Who it is for: viewers who like Indonesian cinema and family drama on economic ground. Who it is not for: the pace is uneven, the emotional steering high, and the subject repetitive.
