Na Willa

Ryan Adriandhy's 2026 Indonesian film adapts Reda Gaudiamo's children's book and is set in 1960s Surabaya. To six-year-old Willa, the narrow alley her house stands on is the most complete and magical place in the world; her friends, her games and the rules she has invented all live there. Then two things happen: her closest friend has an accident, and one by one her playmates start school. Willa's world does not shrink, it empties. The film presents that loss not as drama but as childhood ending at its own pace; the point of view is hers throughout and the adults mostly stay at the edge of the frame. The neighbourhood life of the period is built in detail. Who it's for: viewers who like family films told from a child's vantage and nostalgic period stories. Who it's not for: anyone expecting plot and tension; the film stays inside the everyday.
