Sri Ganesh's 2017 Tamil film follows a rookie police officer whose pistol is stolen. He searches for it secretly; meanwhile the gun is used in a bank robbery and the matter grows. The structure runs on two sides. The officer's search and the story of the man who ends up with the gun are told separately and intersect late; the narrative does not say plainly which of them is right. Kurosawa's film on the same theme is an open source of inspiration and the director does not hide it. The production is low budget; Vetri leads and the cast contains no known names. There are no song breaks and the running time is kept short. Who it's for: those who like plain Tamil crime films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting star-driven commercial cinema; the film keeps its scale deliberately small.
