What A Bomb Was Stolen Is About
An ordinary man starts carrying a suitcase without knowing there is a nuclear bomb inside it. Caught between the gang who want the bomb and the soldiers trying to get it back, his flight turns into a long chase. There is not one line of dialogue in the film; everything is given through movement, sound and image. Ion Popescu-Gopo turns the spy thriller into farce, into satire and at times into plain surrealism, and makes the weapon itself ridiculous. That it was shot under the shadow of nuclear arms only sharpens the joke. Iurie Darie and Liliana Tomescu appear in the seventy two minute Romanian production, completed in 1962.
