A Good Doctor

Christmas Eve in Paris. Serge is the only emergency doctor on call and nobody else is working. After an accident and a badly placed injection leave him unable to walk for the rest of the night, he is stuck with Malek, a food delivery rider he meets in a doorway. What follows is two men going from patient to patient: one tired, sardonic and finished with his own life, the other young, scattered and still making plans. Tristan Séguéla keeps to the shape of a Christmas comedy but lets the night version of the city in, the isolated elderly and patients without papers included. The gap in register between Michel Blanc and Hakim Jemili is the whole engine. Who it is for: viewers who like French comedies that lock two opposites into one night. Who it is not for: anyone hoping it will break the formula, which it deliberately keeps.
