A Hometown in Heart

The account is set in a Buddhist temple. A small boy lives at the temple. The boy is an orphan and is growing up there. His work is to help the monks. One day a young woman comes to the temple. The woman is a widow and has lost her son. She has come to mourn him. The boy is at ease beside her. A bond forms between the two of them. The woman thinks of taking him with her. But the temple has rules of its own. The boy wonders about his own mother as well. Yu Min and Choi Eun-hee take the leads, with Byeon Gi-jong also in the cast, in Yoon Yong-gyu’s South Korean film of 1949.
