What A Skin Too Few: The Days of Nick Drake Is About
Nick Drake was twenty six when he died in 1974, leaving three albums whose influence has only grown since. Jeroen Berkvens's forty eight minute documentary builds the musician's life out of his sister Gabrielle Drake's account and the recordings of his mother, Molly Drake. The family house, the English countryside and the songs themselves are its three supports. The film offers no explanation and no diagnosis; it quietly shows what it meant that almost nobody listened to Drake while he was alive. Paul Weller is among those who speak.
