Mikael Wiehe What A Thousand Pieces Is About
The documentary tells the life and the work of the Swedish singer Bjorn Afzelius. Conversations with his friends, his family and the musicians he played with are put together with archive material that had never been shown before. What comes out is the portrait of a man who filled halls, wrote political songs and was widely loved, and who was at the same time not easy to understand. That is the film’s claim: to show sides of a name everyone thought they knew. It does this not as a defence or an accusation but by setting the accounts of the people who knew him side by side. The hundred minute Swedish documentary by Magnus Gertten and Stefan Berg was completed in 2014.
