A Wall of Silence

Kate is a British director. She comes to Buenos Aires to make a film. The film she is making is about the years of the military dictatorship. Its subject is the people who were disappeared and those left behind. The story she tells is the story of a real woman. The woman’s name is Silvia Cassini. Silvia’s husband was disappeared in those years. Time has passed since then and she has remarried. Now she does not want to remember those days. The making of the film calls her back into the past. The more Kate tries to tell it, the more silence she meets. Silvia is not the only one keeping quiet. The people around her will not speak either. Some choose to forget and some deny. That silence stands there like a wall. Vanessa Redgrave and Ofelia Medina appear in the hundred and five minute film, an Argentinian, Mexican and British co-production Lita Stantic finished in 1993.
