What Abel's Field Is About
Seth McArdle is a high school senior trying to hold everything up on his own: his mother is dead, his father has gone, and he is the acting parent to his young twin sisters. A foreclosure warning from the bank makes the load heavier, and the anger that builds up turns into fights with the school football team. An exasperated coach sends him to work after school with Abel, the school’s odd groundskeeper. The relationship starts cold and difficult, and as they spend time together it emerges that they have far more in common than either expected, most of it pain and loss. Gordie Haakstad directed, Affirm Films, a Sony division, distributed it, and the film is openly part of the Christian cinema circuit. Kevin Sorbo plays Abel, Samuel Davis plays Seth, and it came out on 15 September 2012.
