What Acasă, My Home Is About
In the wetland on the edge of Bucharest, nine children and their parents lived close to nature for twenty years. Then they were moved out and had to get used to a flat in the city, to school and to official paperwork. The documentary follows that passage over years, showing at once what the children gain in the city and what they lose. The account neither romanticises the life they had nor declares the city their rescue, and the tension between the father and the children sits in the middle of it. Some of the children want the city and some want to go back, and the family splits along that line. Radu Ciorniciuc’s eighty six minute Romanian documentary was completed in 2020.
