What Ad Fundum Is About
Sammy Raes, a law freshman from a modest family, dies during a hazing ritual known as the flying carpet. The father of Guy Bogaerts, the arrogant fraternity president who ordered it, uses his connections to head off a conviction for homicide, and the university authorities would rather avoid a scandal in the press. Sammy’s friends refuse to let it go. Erik Van Looy came to his first feature after two shorts, setting this at the University of Leuven and aiming it squarely at the notorious student baptisms of the Flemish universities. Willy Stassen shot the ninety-eight minutes and Jean-Marie Aerts and Tom Wolf wrote the music.
