Jenny Gage's 2019 film follows Tessa starting university. She comes from an ordered life and meets Hardin. The relationship intensifies quickly. The film builds the attraction on contrast; the narrative presents Hardin's behaviour within a romantic frame and does not question the controlling side of the relationship. It is adapted from a text written first as fan fiction and later published as a novel. Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin lead. Sequels followed. Who it's for: viewers of teen romance.
