After Ever Happy

The fourth film in the After series. Hardin discovers that Christian Vance is his biological father, Tessa loses her own father to an overdose and moves to New York with Landon. Months later, when they meet again, it emerges that Hardin has written a book about their relationship without asking her. The series comes from Anna Todd's One Direction fan fiction, which became novels and then films. Castille Landon directed. Josephine Langford plays Tessa and Hero Fiennes Tiffin plays Hardin. It was shot back to back with After We Fell in Bulgaria in 2020, wrapping that December. Landon said what drew her was the source material's realistic analysis of love and a wish to show that romance is not always beautiful. The reviews were unanimous the other way: 0 percent on Rotten Tomatoes from seven critics with an average of 2.6. It opened in Europe on 22 August 2022 and in the United States on 7 September 2022, grossing 19.2 million dollars worldwide. Who it is for: people following the series. The film assumes you have seen the previous three. Who it is not for: anyone who will question whether the relationship is healthy. It romanticises Hardin's behaviour, which is what it is most criticised for.
