Josée

Josée, directed by Kim Jong-kwan, is a South Korean film remade from a 2003 Japanese film, which itself was based on Japanese author Seiko Tanabe's story Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. The film follows Josée (Han Ji-min), a withdrawn young woman who uses a wheelchair, and her unforgettable love story with university student Young-seok (Nam Joo-hyuk). The film topped the Korean box office on its opening day. Who it's for: anyone curious about a love story involving a wheelchair using woman, adapted twice from the same Japanese story, first in Japan in 2003 and then in Korea in 2020. Who it's not for: those wanting to keep straight which version they're watching, since this is distinct from both the Japanese original and a separate 2020 anime adaptation of the same story.
