A year after the breakup, Hardin Scott cannot write. He is dealing with the fallout of having published his relationship with Tessa as a novel. He goes to Lisbon to make peace with Natalie, an old flame, and starts writing again there. Castille Landon directed. It is the fifth film in the series and the first not based on one of Anna Todd's books; Landon wrote it as an original story. Hero Fiennes Tiffin returns as Hardin and Josephine Langford as Tessa. It was shot in Portugal and given a limited release on 13 September 2023 through Voltage Pictures, arriving on video-on-demand on 3 October 2023. It grossed 10.6 million dollars. It was marketed as the final chapter, but Landon confirmed that a prequel and a sequel about the characters' children were in development, with no dates given. Who it is for: people following the series. Who it is not for: everybody else. The film assumes you have seen the previous four and leaves no door in from outside.
