Amber: The Girl Behind the Alert

The documentary takes up Amber Hagerman. Amber was a girl of nine. She was abducted in Arlington, Texas in January 1996. She had been riding her bicycle near her grandmother’s house. She was found dead days later. The case is still open today. Who did it was never found. A system was set up after what happened. The system issues an urgent alert for missing children. It took its name from Amber. That alert has played a part in finding more than a thousand children. Amber’s mother speaks in the documentary. She also shares home footage of her daughter’s last days. This is the story she tells for the first and last time. Elizabeth Fisher directed the ninety two minute documentary. The American production was finished in 2023.
