America Unchained

Dave Gorman is a British comedian. He decides to drive across America from one side to the other. He has one rule. He will not stop at a single chain along the way. No chain hotels. No filling stations belonging to the big brands. No chain coffee shops and no chain burger places. He will buy only from family businesses. The rule looks simple on paper. On the road it gets complicated. In some towns there is no independent shop left. What to do when the fuel runs out is a matter of its own. Gorman talks to the shopkeepers as he goes. The account shows where small businesses stand. Dave Gorman tells his own journey in the seventy six minute documentary, an American production Andy Devonshire and Stef Wagstaffe finished in 2007.
