What An Easy Life Is About
Aleksandr Bochkin, trained as a chemist, manages a dry cleaning business in Moscow, but his comfortable life really comes from work on the side, run together with a woman known as Queen Margot. When his old friend from the chemical institute, Yuri Lebedev, arrives in Moscow from a city in Siberia, and arrives with Olga, Bochkin begins to feel uneasy about his own title. The film shows the black market not as a moral deviation but as a gap inside the system. The account keeps its comic tone and punishes nobody. It is one of the works of Soviet cinema of 1964 to take up this subject through comedy. Whether the man will return to his own profession is left open.
